About the author person

RICHARD JAMES SUTHERLAND was born in Hull, England during the 1982 edition of Valentine’s Day, making him the perfect age to have appreciated He-Man, TMNT and Duckula in their prime.

Whilst studying History at the university of his hometown, he deserted his post as Frozen Food Stacker at a supermarket and began the role of Till Monkey at the local Waterstone’s. He now works extremely hard (no matter what anyone says) as the Marketing Assistant at Hull Truck Theatre.

Aside from acquiring a loving girlfriend and two cats, and indulging in the occasional change of margarine brand, very little else has happened in his life. Although he did once paint a garden wall a lovely shade of Brick Red.

He likes sandcastles, marker pens and traffic lights, but never combined, not necessarily in that order, and always in moderation.
